The UK harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) in August rose by 0.4% in a month, compared with its drop by 0.1% in July. At the annual rate, the UK harmonized index of consumer prices amounted to 2.5%, compared with 2.4% in July. The analysts expected that HICP would grow by 0.3% in a month and by 2.4% in a year.
RPIX (the retail prices excluding mortgage interest payments) rose in August by 3.3% in a year, compared with 3.1% last month.
Retail prices in the UK grew in August by 0.4% in a month and 3.4% in a year, compared with 0.0% and 3.3% in July, month and year respectively.
The National Office of Statistics also emphasizes
